Something Compelled Her To Look
The creature was fully formed again, leaves and mud and bits of foliage forming its body. It stood in the creek, just at the water’s edge. Watching her.
She continued backing away from the creek’s bank, out of reach of the water, out of reach of the creature’s arms. She stared at the creature. The creature stood just inside the creek, staring back.
That’s when she saw the creature had eyes. Bright blue eyes buried within the flotsam and jetsam of its face.
Jerry’s eyes.
She turned and ran.
