They Can’t Move. They’re Dead.
“Look, Momma, it moved,” Cal said.
Her son’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts and away from the tour group. “What, honey?” She looked at her son.
Cal pointed to one of the ash statues. “He moved. That one moved.”
She frowned. “They can’t move. They’re dead. There’s not even a body in there. You heard the man. They are just shells in the shape of people. They’re full of plaster.”
“No, he moved. I saw him move.”
