There Was Nowhere To Hide
Stores were looted with wild abandon. Glass and debris littered nearly every street in every small town in America. Fires burned. Sirens wailed but no one answered their desperate cries. There wasn’t a cop to be seen anywhere. The National Guard was already fully deployed to the areas around the massive towers, but even many of them had simply gone home to be with their families.
Neighbors begged to be let into bunkers. Smug survivalists turned them away.
Many families huddled around television screens. There was nowhere to hide; there was nowhere else to go. They watched the news and waited.
